Are you curious about how other programs are using an EHR in medical education?

It is probably the number one question that I have fielded in the last two years here at the Regenstrief Institute. Schools are curious how other schools are using an EHR in their curriculum with students. One event that is coming up November 2-3 is the Generalists in Medical Education Conference.

Our own Dr. Blaine Takesue will be presenting at the Generalists in Medical Education Conference in November. Blaine and Dr. Deb Litzelman developed our EHR Clinical Learning Platform (Teaching EMR) back in 2013 as part of a grant with the American Medical Association’s Accelerating Change in Medical Education (ACE) for the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSOM). The virtual EHR was developed for the IUSOM with the help of the Regenstrief Institute where Drs. Litzelman and Takesue are Research Scientists.

Presenting on EHRs in Education

Blaine will be joined by Dr. Ken Lazarus from Indiana University where they have been using the platform with students since August 2015. Dr. Suzanne Rose from the University of Connecticut will also be presenting. The UConn has been using the Teaching with students since 2016. Kevin Heckman from the American Medical Association (AMA) will also be part of the group that is presenting at the conference.

The topic that the team will be presenting on is “Applying a Virtual EHR Platform to Health Professions Education (HPE).”

Each of the medical schools that will be presenting at the conference will be talking about they have developed curriculum using our EHR clinical learning platform for their medical, nursing, and other allied health professions. Our platform is not just for Medical Students.

So, if you are going to be at the conference on November 3rd, please stop in and listen to their presentation. Learn with other health professions education programs are doing for students using curricula with an EHR.

We would love to hear your thoughts and comments below about how your using an EHR in health professions education or would like to at your program.

We have a very nice curricula report that you can get here that demonstrates how the EHR clinical learning platform can be used in different education programs.

Please let me know if you have questions or if you want to schedule a demonstration.

I would love to show you our platform and how you might be able to use it in your curricula. Click here for demo registration.

Thank you!
