A Good Place to Start
The Regenstrief Institute has been known in the informatics research community for decades. I worked for a large HealthIT software company for many years and had heard about the EHR and CPOE system developed by Dr. Clem McDonald and the team at the Center for Biomedical Informatics where I work today. It simply amazes me that we have been developing and support an EHR and CPOE system since 1970’s here in Indianapolis. It is truly an EHR developed by doctors and allied health professionals for doctors and allied health professionals. I would venture to say that not many commercial vendors have MDs, RNs, and PhDs that have done and are doing the coding for their EHR/EMR.
Each time Dr. Takesue, myself, or others demonstrate our application we hear a consistent theme, “I wish my EHR did that.” High praise from those who are shaping the future providers that will graduate to health systems. The application used by the students who’s academic institution have adopted the Regenstrief EHR Clinical Learning Platform (formerly the Teaching EMR learning platform) is introduced below for you to review. If you would like to take it for a test drive, follow the link I have created for the Regenstrief EHR Clinical Learning Platform (formerly the Teaching EMR) demo or navigate to it on our site.
RECL Platform (formerly tEMR) Team Profile
We have asked Cindi Hart to demonstrate the application for new users in the video below. She is a nurse and has been training providers on the clinical application for over a decade here at the Institute. She would assist us in training your faculty team to use the application in your curriculum.
In addition to the great work that she does for us with training programs on the application, she is also an avid cyclist and speed skater. She is also the President of Spokes of Hope where she leads the fundraising activities for fighting cancer and supporting those impacted by it.
Curious of what all RECL (formerly tEMR) can do? Please enjoy our 25-minute application overview video.
Content Trumps Technology
We have only scratched the surface of what the Regenstrief EHR Clinical Learning Platform (formerly the Teaching EMR) can do in the video above. The technology is great, but our content is what programs really want for their classrooms. The patient content available for learning is what makes RECL (formerly tEMR) even more unique as we have worked with some great partners to provide over 10K anonymized patients for learning.
